Geography and geology Kynance Cove
There are several islands and small tidal stacks in Kynance Cove formed by the serpentine tremolite broken into blocks and invaded by other rocks, including granite and basalt. These softer rocks have been eroded by the sea and the four largest stacks from left to right. It is thought that asparagus island, which is cut off by almost every high tide, has been connected to the mainland by a sandstone tablet.
Winter storms washed away sand to reveal a rocky ridge, probably formed more than 100,000 years before the sea level was higher. At about half the tide, a snort can be heard – the sound of the Devil blowing into a hole in the asparagus island caused by a sea tunnel caused by an error. A second flaw, the Post Office is so named because it has enough charisma to send a letter in it!
